Quality Assurance

Every tank we sell passes the same pressure we'd put on our own..

Buy Propane Tank inspects, tests, and certifies every cylinder and bulk tank before it ships. No shortcuts, no "good enough." If it carries our name, it's been proven safe.

The Inspection Chain

Five seals. One tank doesn't ship without all five.

This is the exact sequence every cylinder and bulk tank moves through before it's cleared for sale. Each stage is logged, timestamped, and signed off by a technician — not a checkbox, an actual person.

Stage 01

Receiving & Visual Inspection

Every incoming tank is checked for dents, corrosion, rust-through, valve damage, and collar integrity before it's even logged into our system. Anything below standard is rejected at the door.

Surface & weld inspection Footring & collar check Valve threading verified
Stage 02

Hydrostatic Pressure Test

Each tank is filled with water and pressurized to 1.5 times its rated working pressure. We're watching for expansion, leaks, or weld failure under load — the same test required for DOT recertification.

Stage 03

Valve & Regulator Function Test

OPD valves are tested for proper shutoff, overfill protection, and smooth thread engagement. A valve that sticks, leaks, or doesn't seat correctly fails the tank — no exceptions.

Stage 04

Recertification Date Stamping

Approved tanks are stamped with the current inspection date and the next required recertification date, in line with DOT 4-year and 12-year cycles. You'll always know exactly where your tank stands.

Stage 05

Final Sign-Off & Packaging

A second technician independently reviews the full inspection log before the tank is cleared. Only then is it sealed, labeled, and prepared for pickup or delivery.

Standards We Hold

We don't set our own bar. We meet the one the industry already agreed on.

Propane isn't a place to improvise. Every tank we sell is held to the same standards regulators, manufacturers, and insurers require — documented and ready to show on request.

DOT 39 & 4BA/4BW

Cylinders are manufactured and inspected to U.S. Department of Transportation specifications for portable propane containers.

OPD Valve Standard

All cylinders 4–40 lbs are fitted with Overfilling Prevention Device valves, required by law for refill and exchange nationwide.

ASME Bulk Tank Code

Stationary and bulk storage tanks meet ASME pressure vessel construction codes for residential and commercial installations.

NFPA 58 Guidelines

Our handling, storage, and transport practices align with the National Fire Protection Association's liquefied petroleum gas code.

4-Year Recert Cycle

Every used cylinder we sell is within its DOT-required recertification window, clearly date-stamped at point of sale.

Manual QA Sign-Off

No automated pass-through. A trained technician physically inspects and signs off on every single unit before it's listed for sale.

What Gets Tested

Exactly what we check, and why it matters.

No vague promises — here's the actual checklist our technicians run through, by category, on every tank that comes through our shop.

Test What We're Checking Result Required
Visual Surface Scan Dents, gouges, rust, corrosion, bulging, weld seam condition, and footring stability. No structural flaws
Hydrostatic Test Tank is pressurized to 1.5× working pressure with water to confirm it holds without deformation or leaks. Holds full pressure
Valve Function OPD shutoff, overfill protection lever, thread condition, and o-ring seal integrity. Seats & seals correctly
Leak Detection Soap-solution and pressure-decay testing at the valve, collar weld, and base seam. Zero detectable leaks
Weight & Tare Check Confirms stamped tare weight matches actual empty weight, ensuring accurate fills. Matches stamped tare
Date Stamp Verification Confirms manufacture date and recertification window are legible, current, and within DOT cycle. Within legal cycle
Our Guarantee

If a tank fails our standard, it never reaches your hands.

We'd rather lose a sale than ship something we wouldn't trust on our own property. That's not a slogan — it's how every tank in our inventory is treated.

Common Questions

Quality assurance, plainly explained.

Straight answers to what people usually ask before buying propane equipment from a new supplier.

Both — we carry new cylinders straight from certified manufacturers, and requalified cylinders that have passed our full inspection and hydrostatic testing process. Each listing clearly states which one you're buying, and refurbished units are priced accordingly.

They're pulled from inventory immediately and either sent for professional recertification and re-testing, or scrapped entirely if the damage is structural. A failed tank never makes it to a customer, regardless of how minor the issue looks.

Yes. Every tank has a serial number tied to its inspection log. Call us at (323) 696-7549 with your serial number and we'll walk you through exactly what was tested and when.

Standard DOT cylinders require recertification every 12 years from manufacture, then every 5 years after that — though many exchange programs require recertification every 4 years for practical handling reasons. Bulk and stationary tanks follow separate ASME inspection schedules. We handle the tracking so you don't have to.

Any manufacturing or workmanship defect that surfaces within 30 days of purchase — valve malfunction, seal failure, or a structural issue we should have caught — is replaced or refunded, no questions asked. Normal wear from use isn't covered.

Yes. We stock everything from 20 lb portable cylinders for grills and patio heaters up through large bulk and stationary tanks for homes, farms, and commercial operations — all held to the same inspection standard regardless of size.
